Abuse of tenders and falsification of documents, GJKKO gives sentences to 4

The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has announced the final verdict for 4 former local officials in Kurbin, accused of violating equality in public tenders and falsifying documents.

At the end of a summary trial, three people were found guilty, while one was acquitted.

Specifically, Jeton Cakoni was found guilty of the criminal offense of “Violation of equality of participants in public tenders or auctions”, committed in collaboration. He was sentenced to 1 year in prison, reduced to 8 months due to the summary trial. The court decided to suspend the execution of the sentence and place him on probation for 16 months. Cakoni also loses the right to exercise public functions for a period of 5 years.

Vlash Gega, accused of the same criminal offense as Cakoni, was also sentenced to 1 year in prison, reduced to 8 months. He was also given a suspended sentence and a probation measure of 16 months, as well as a ban on exercising public functions for 5 years.

Donika Senka was found guilty of forging seals, stamps and forms on more than one occasion. She was sentenced to 1 year in prison, reduced to 8 months. Her sentence was also suspended, being placed on probation for 16 months.

Irisi Tahiraj was found not guilty of the charge of violating equality in tenders, after the court found that her involvement in the criminal offense was not proven.

The court ordered that documents seized during the investigation, including statements signed by Donika Senka, be deemed forged and marked as such by the Kurbin Municipality, as the contracting authority administering them.
