Pesticide and salmonella scandal, Rama blames the AKU: This institution should

Prime Minister Edi Rama has abdicated all responsibility regarding the scandals that have recently engulfed the country over products containing salmonella and pesticides that have been released onto the Albanian market.

During his speech at a meeting with farmers, Rama seems to be blaming the way the institution functions, in this case the National Food Authority (AKU) and not the Government, political appointments, corruption or negligence.

Just as the Minister of Agriculture, Anila Denaj, previously announced the merger of the AKU institution, today Edi Rama has also confirmed this.

Rama said that the activities of the NFA should be urgently suspended, and all human resources of this institution should immediately be submitted to a special commission for verification.

"The activities of the AKU must be suspended immediately. The AKU must be stopped urgently because it does more harm than good. The AKU must be suspended. A special commission must be established to analyze all the human resources of the AKU. The process of merging those inspectorates must go through a process of selecting human resources. The UBT must be part of the commission, to make a serious assessment of the human resources of the AKU. The AKU is the biggest concern of all entrepreneurs, but also for restaurants, cafes and retail outlets, because it does more harm than good. The AKU, the minister, must issue a suspension order ," said Edi Rama.
